Sussex Downs Conservation Board
Client: Sussex Downs Conservation Board

Campaign: Gaining maximum coverage for the work of the Sussex Downs Conservation Board (SDCB).

The SDCB wanted to gain coverage of the work and people of the Board. This is one example of how Woodhouse helped.

Objective:
The Board was needed to check the progress of an invasive plant - ragwort -on the Sussex Downs. If left alone ragwort destroy the nature of the Downs.

Exmoor ponies were a relatively simple solution — they feed on the plant. So the objective was to gain maximum publicity for the announcement that the ponies were being introduced to the Downs.

What we did:
A targeted, well-researched and well-written news release was drafted and approved by the board. A photocall was arranged and media invited. Woodhouse called around its local print and broadcast media contacts to push the story.

Results:
The story received coverage on TV and radio and was covered extensively in the print media, reaching the London Evening Standard and the nationals.

Evaluation:
The release was very high profile. As a result, awareness of the innovative and caring nature of the Board’s work was heightened.
